I'm watching the movie "The Replacements" and I am assuming that the cheerleaders are on strike as well as the players since the head cheerleader chick has to find new ones. So, my question....is it typical for cheerleaders to go on strike because/when football players do?

For the fictional movie I believe that is the case they want you to believe. In actuallity no. The cheerleaders and players are not a part of the same union and therefore would not be on strike for the same time and issues.
Cheerleaders are not a part of the players union, so the players being on strike would have no bearing on theri employment. Cheerleaders are essentially employees of the front office and have to sign contracts saying that they will in no way shed negative publicity on the team. The real wording is much more elaborate Lawyer Talk, but you get the idea. Cheerleaders are a part of the Public reltaions division of under the supervision of management.
if football players do that means, thye cheerleaders will have nothing to cheer about, that could mean they're going on strike because the football players.
