Another User Account password/ID issue?

I read where someone suddenly was denied access to their account. I am another victum. I have had the same ID and password for over 5 years with no problems. I am an advanced computer user. This morning i went to log onto my yahoo Im and it denied my password. No luck logging into my email either. I have been online and active in yahoo Im for over 5 years. I know my username and my password is correct. I allow cookies, i know my caps lock is not on, i know i did everything correct. Could it be a glitch in yahoo? This needs to be looked into. I am not happy. I lost about 125 buddies in my old account. I work online with a very large parenting community. Working with the Administration. I depend on my yahoo Im to work. Please look into this issue.
Thanks!

Thanks for the tips. I do know all of what yu explained. I have taught security online for over 9 years.
I will add that the only place I have ever typed my yahoo ID or password was in my Yahoo IM. When i recieve emails it auto logged me into my email account. So I never had to go to any log in pages.
My password was uppercase and lower case letters with numbers in between.
My computer runs through a lynx router w/firewall, plus I use ZoneAlarm, two Antivirus programs and Windows Defender. I use Windows XP with all updated security. This computer is like Fort Knox as far as a hacker is concerned. I was taught by two of the best hacker crackers online today. I also teach others how to be secure. So i would never open any link from anyone i did not know, nor an email. Nor do i accept messages from anyone I do not know. All the Administrators and Hosts I work with my fill out a complete secure application before even gaining access to my Yahoo buddy list.
Thanks for your Reply!

One of the main ways that people lose their yahoo accounts is that they signed into a bogus yahoo sign in page. For example you get an email or a PM from someone you think is your friend to view photos. When you click on the link it takes you to a site that you must sign into. Well this is a bogus page just designed to steal your name and password. This happens a lot.

The person who sent you the link may not really be your friend because your friend probably got their account stolen too and names on that friend's list are being targeted. Also an exploit also has existed that can capture your cookie to get your password just when you click on a bad link that is in a chatroom, pm, or email. Only click on links from known trusted sources and also make sure that your friend actually sent you a link in a pm or email and that they didn't get their account stolen.

There are also cracker programs out there too to crack accounts and steal passwords though they are not as common as some poeple think. Most accounts are lost because of ways I have discussed previously. But to make it more difficult for someone to crack your account make sure that you have a secure password that consists of capitals, lower case, numbers, and special characters and is at least 8 characters long. Write this password down so that you do not forget it. One thing that I do is to take a word such as "rainbows." I then follow the rules I mentioned and I make a password like this "R41nb0Ws." Also change your password ever couple months to be safe.

Now if you have lost your account and want to attempt to get it back from yahoo ... the only possible way would be if you know all your account information you had when you made the account such as birthdate and security question and answer. If you know those things then read this link and follow the instructions >>> http://www.bigblueball.com/forums/186568-post4.html

New Post: Well perhaps this happened then if none of the above applies to you. If a person does try to guess your password, or you if you had forgotton it (know this is not the case) after so many attempt yahoo will lock your account for a short period for security purposes. And then no one even you can try again for a while.
