Just wondering what everyones take on Yzerman being Red Wings coach or another teams coach one day, and do you think he will take a position in the staff of the Red Wings organization since Hockey is his life?

He's a natural leader. One of the few truly great players who could succeed as a coach, preferably with the Wings. Whether he becomes coach or not, I hope and believe he will stay with them in some significant capacity.
I still think Gordie Howe was the greatest Red Wing ever, but Stevie Y had some qualities that even Mr. Hockey lacked. He was the captain for 19 years, longer than anyone in the history of the NHL. That says volumes about his leadership ability. A great, great player.

I am not so confident of coach at first, but EX-Detroit Red Wing players have filled the NHL with a bunch of fine players.
I think that will continue for decades, so management at least.
As for Federov - Yzerman duo....Federov was an awsome player recuited by the "Wings" but never had the heart that Stevie had and usually only scored when his girlfriend was in the arena.

Yzerman himself has said that he doesnt really like the idea of coaching. After all, he lead by example, and not through words.
However, Yzerman did say that he would love a job in management somewhere. After he retired, Holland confirmed that there is a job waiting for Steve in the front office, if Steve wants it.

You know I would love to see him coach. He is a icon in the hockey world so I think what ever team got him would be well off.
The thing is I bet he comes back as a player for a few, guys like him dont stay gone long. Its in their blood to play.
He has skated better this season than he has been and I wouldnt doubt it one bit if he has a clause that allows him to come back as a player.

He said that he would be interested in coaching team Canada one day, didn't mention Detroit.
I'd assume that if he were to coach Canada in the next international event and had success, than you'd see him easily be the next coach of the wings.
