This is probably a very naive question but, we are trying to get pregnant?
and having difficulty. It seems that after he cums inside me it all leaks out - I have tried staying lay down but as soon as I stand it kind of runs out. Is this normal or is it supposed to be able to stay inside you?

This is absolutely normal. A majority of his semen will escape from you as soon as you stand up (and even while laying down).
That is completely normal. No matter whether you stand or lay down, the semen will still leak out. Actually, the majority of the sperm stay inside you. What is leaking out is the rest of his semen. Just have patience and keep trying. Maybe he has a low sperm count.
This is not in technical terms, but here goes. When a man ejaculates, it's in a blob-like form. When it hits the inside of a woman, it tends to melt...ha..this is when the sperm go nuts and take flight. What's leaking out is probably a small amount of spermies anyway, just semen. Yes, totally normal...in fact, I HATE that part of it. Lie there all night without getting up to go to the bathroom on the days you notice fertile cm. Worked for me.
I experience the same thing. During your cycle your cervix changes positions and will move down slightly and open to allow sperm inside during your fertile time (when you are about to ovulate). When you have sex at other times little or no sperm may get in. Don't worry about it, it's totally normal. Just keep having sex and you'll get the right day(s) eventually. I've been told to do it once every other day so that you can hit your fertile time while still allowing his sperm count to build back up. Best of luck!
Completely normal. However, to enhance the possibility of impregnation, you might try sliding a thick pillow under your hips and stay that way for 1/2 hour after each act of sex. It will help to keep the semen closer to the cervical opening for a longer period of time, helping more sperm to be introduced into the uterine cavity.
