I was wrong. Is Oxymanron man enough to say he was?

Two can play, I usually don't take to this level.

It seems my info was partially erroneous, tho' speaking on a national level, there was a published ad put forth by the NYNH&HRR stating it had the "First Electrified Main Line" with a picture of its four-track main, AC catenary, dating to 1907. First in the USA, rather than the world, which was a misinterpretation on my part - though its debatable whether the one in 1881 Germany was a "main" or "branchline".

I do know for a fact earliest American (branchline) electrification was with 3rd rail on DC voltage in 1895..the Baltimore Belt lines got its down first and NYNH&H was right behind. From page 308 New Haven Power ISBN 0-944513-09-3.

If we want to take to the next level, we have Ben Franklin, a great American to thank for the first experiments with using electricity for our use.. we can thank American Thomas Edison for the first light bulb which surely opened the door for electric trains.

I was wrong. How 'bout you Oxy?

Or should we chalk this up as European arrogance, and a big ego problem?

2006-08-03T15:08:25Z

Seeing how I just found some time to look up everything posted to wit and put it together rather than going off foggy second hand info..

2006-08-03T15:27:55Z

It seems through an e-mail he won't...and says Europe has always been first ahead of the US....

Oh and I'm the arrogant one again....

Addition: AMEN HOGHEAD! Well said!

And if my agreement with your very true statements is viewed as "arrogant", then so be it. I am wrong (in this case) and arrogant at the same time, too.

MY MY, Oxy...why don't we put on what you said to me first? Wheres the context?

Was the language too complicated in the article I sent you? Sorry to burst your bubble, but you'll find that the backwards country called the USA is not the answer to any of these questions.
Arrogant Americans, is there a limit to how stupid they can be?
I suggest you grow up enough to admit you're wrong before you reply dumbass.
You are wrong looser, more the looser because you can't admit it
My I suggest that Its because you are wrong and the looser that you are throwing your toys out of the pram and don't want to play anymore?
LoL @ U Why can't you admit you are the looser? No you are not just a looser you are a sore looser, get some education arrogant American. and grow up because you know nothing.

Are books full of as much bullshit as you are? if they even exist, which I doubt as you aren't able to prove anything you say, you couldn't even write Thomas the Tank Engine you Muppet. you need to tell what a fact is before you write, unless of course you are an American, then you just spout crap, Go back to fraggle rock.

Give 'em hell ACE.

The bugaboo for America bashers is the fact cannot be escaped that, but for sacrifice and copious quantities of spilled American blood, all would be goose-stepping their way across the continent in jack boots, or greeting each other with "Tovarich, commrade."

We forgave lots of war debt and never asked for anything in return.

And the truth is, if we were needed to help in the same fashion tomorrow, we would.

How's that for diplomacy?

Not to worry. I'll concede right now that this, too, is an arrogant statement. But, one must agree, that on those rare occasions were the truth and arrogance are one and the same, it really sucks, doesn't it?

So kiddies, America may not have been the first with the electric powered train, but we do have one unarguable first in our history. We were first in FREEDOM. God bless the USA.

LoL @ U.
first you said
"Well, I'll have you know electric trains got their start right here in the US..namely on the New Haven and its copy-cat Pennsylvania"

Then when I pointed out that the City and south London had electric trains first, you created wriggle room by saying "It was the first heavy railway" Then when another user proved that statement to be wrong, you created more wriggle room by saying it was the first main line! highly debatable. It took you along time to admit you were wrong and stop trying to wriggle didn't it? All this time you were sending me Emails like:

Message: Child, you are stuck on stupid. A commercial on Siemens website isn't a real information source....guess what; GE and EMD say they're the leaders in diesels....so? You are ignorantly gullible to the point I actually feel sad for you.

Write again when you grow up, and hopefully a brain will appear in that void between your ears by that time.

Take your Euroshit attitude, go "heil hitler" and quit bugging me until you have something accurate and worth writing...I can't believe we wasted our time with you people in WWI and WWII...

Notice how he attempts to appear more grown up and Superior then this when he posts on this site. I sent him the Siemens website info to prove that America was not the first in the field of Electric locomotive traction. although it turns out the Siemens company was not the first to demonstrate an electric locomotive, the fact still remains it was not in the USA, so how am I supposed to be wrong?
