Exercising During Pregnancy?

I hear that exercising during pregnacny, is good for both mother and baby. I only gained about 7 lbs within my first 16weeks, (I'm on week 20 now).

Before pregnancy I was a good 50 lbs overweight. My doctor did not mention any thing to me about limiting, he mentioned that i needed to get plenty of exercise during my pregnancy and it did not have to be anything more than just walking. soo..

If I exercise and lose weight (without trying) will that hurt me or my baby?

Like I mentioned before, I have only gained 7 lbs withing the first 16 weeks, I think I have done well, in not over eating or eating too much junk, so eating healthy and exercising, will do some good when its time to deliver,

but If I lose weight, will that hurt my baby, I'm not trying to lose weight, i just want to start walking, but I'm not over eating so I know that I will end up staying the same weight for a while or melting some off, I have a tendancy to lose weight easily by just changing my diet and exercising regularly. i dont want to exercise if its going to hurt the baby, by losing weight.

I would say definitely not! As long as you are growing and measuring just fine, and getting all of the adequate nutrition your body and your baby needs. I say good for you. Your pregnancy, labor, and after pregnancy will go so much better. And if there is a problem I'm sure that your doctor will say something at your next visit.

I was going to ask this same exact thing. I agree with the person who posted before me... as long as you are not purposely trying to lose weight, I think it's okay. You should still check periodically with your doctor though. I've known doctors to get upset if a mother gains too much as well.

Just do what you're supposed to, and only eat when your hungry, and don't do any vigorous or strenuous exercises that could hurt your baby. Good luck & God Bless!

OK, as long as you are not TRYING to lose weight. =) Definitely don't want to do that...

Exercise is great for you, it will keep you strong and healthy for the birth.

First, go to the doctor and make sure that everything is OK. You should be seen by a physician to rule out complications.

If he says you and baby are both just fine, make sure that you are eating enough calories per day.

And- take your vitamins!

Best of Luck!

Excersing is good during pregnancy. It will also help with your labor when the time comes. Just don't overdo it and don't lift weights or anything like that. I don't know how good losing weight is, but it never hurts to tone down a little. I would just talk to your doctor.
