What is the difference between the TI83, TI83+, and TI84 calculators?
One of these calculators is required for my College Algebra class. I am not very keen on learning a difficult calculator in addition to accomplishing the challenging algebra (math is NOT my best subject). Which one of these calculators would be best for a technology-challenged person like me? Any tips on mastering them? And what is a good discount place to find them? All help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I currently use a TI-83 plus and I love it! I've had it for the past 3 years and I havent had a problem. They are simple to use (dont even need a manual) if you know someone who knows the basics. The TI-83 i havent tried but i would recommend the plus. As for the TI-84, although it is currently more expensive, it graphs A LOT quicker. Probably about 10 to 20 fold quicker.
As for discount places, I dont really know of any because they are so expensive. I recommend getting a new one so ebay is an iffy idea and amazon may not have them. i think office depot or staples when theyre havign a sale.
having had all three at one point or another, they're more or less the same. right now i have a ti-84+ silver edition and it's absolutely awesome. the only major difference is the amount of flash memory and the processor speed... (ie, the ti-84 plus is 27 times faster on processor speed than the original ti-83). it all also depends on how much you want to spend... but ultimately the ti-84 shares the same easy to use features as the ti-83, just with faster processing, more memory, and upgraded programs. I'd go with that one if you can afford it
I would buy the cheapest. There are tutorial webpages for all of them. Be sure to take your calculator to class to work through the problems. Ask your teacher after class if you get a different calculator answer then him/her and they will be able to help you.
