Amp wont turn on?

Question

a little bit of back round on this amp. its a kicker 350x4 its about a year or so old. i used it on my fronts, but i thought i needed more power then the amp was putting out. so i put the amp in the original box, and put it away. well i got the amp out yesterday to put in my girlfriends cavalier. the amp wont turn on. test it was the first thing i did, cause i didnt want to run power to the trunk, and wires to the speakers only to kind out the damn thing wouldnt turn on. so tell me if i did something wrong. i put 8 ga to ground, which was the negitive battery terminal, took a 4 ga wire put it to + on the battery, and took a 16 ga wire and put it on the + terminal as well. there was nothing. no protective mode, no nothing. i havent hooked up a amp in a while, so i am hoping i didnt do something that is so simple. i hope the amp isnt screwed. please posts thoughts, or ideas, or anything. oh and the fuses are fine.

hello, Mcfly, i have the remote turn on going directly to the + battery terminal. when it sees + it should turn on. its not turning on. hence my question.

sinse everyone keeps saying i need to run a remote from the radio, like it will magically turn on. i hooked the amp up in my car, where i know the wires are good. disconected my back amp, connected the 350x4, and nothing. looks like i have a dead amp.

it makes no difference when you get you power for the remote from   batt or stereo   it should also make no difference as to rca or speaker cables


all you need it batt + and earth


i had a prob with 1 of my old amps which was very similar

if you connect it up batt+ to pos on amp and earth it you have nothin     but if when you attach your remote the light blinks on then straight off  you have exactly the same prob.

alternativly you can open up the amp and physically check the circuit board for obviouse damage (esp around the connectinos for batt remote and earth)

try putting a piece of 16 gauge wiring from the positive on the amp to the remote on the amp.  when u run it straight from the battery it thinks it is the power for it.  My stereo's remote wire got damaged and i had to do this to bang my system.  if this doesn't work check the fuses for the amp.

You need the remote wire from the head unit usually this is a blue wire or if it is a stock radio hook it up to the power antenna it needs a another source of power t o turn it on other than the 4ga to your battery.

This won't solve your problem but, both HOT and Ground should be the same guage wire.

Sounds as if you did everything right. The only thing I can think of (doubtful) is a load needs to be seen on the outputs.

you need to run the remote wire to the stereo and then it will turn on
