I wanna move to New York and start a life there without any help form my family. I need to find a place to live and a cool job. i gradutate from school in one year and i have know idea how accomplish this goal

Do you know what kind of work you would like to do? Having narrowed that down it may help you decide where to live. Look for any local business papers for a feel of the market in the area for that type of work.
Given that you now know where you want to live, check out any local real estate offices/web sites to help you decide where to live and the approximate costs. You might even be able to view/visit apartment complexes online.
And what about furnishings? A bed and a room may be all you think you need, but a few amenities like a toaster and a place to sit make all the difference in the world.
A local Chamber of Commerce might also be a really big help in learning the area and what it has to offer.
Consider also the adjustments that may have to be made for travel and weather. For instance, are you going to need a car to get about? What expenses will be involved with that?
Not knowing where you live, are you moving to a place that will require you to buy winter gear/jackets/boots?
