I have quickly learned that there are more bad customers than contractors?

I have only been in business for my self since March. When I first started I remebered all the people who complained about being ripped and poor work. Wow have I learned ! I have been stiffed, analy raped and called a cheat. I have been doing alot of work with investors and they are the worst. I have had order changes then argue that it should not cost more, wanting me to buy their materials when the bid was for only labor and now one that shines alight up a wall looking for shadows. I guess My question is what am I doing wrong? Why cant I get a steady flow of repeat customers, Why am I having such a hard time with investors? Did anyone else have the same problems? Thank you for your replies

It will be much easier for your if you can understand the flow of a business. A good book to read is The Toyota Way by Jeffrey Liker
and Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T Kiyosaki

I've been a customer and have had the opposite experience..meeting cheating contractors. There is no rhyme or reason but both exist and there is nothing you really can do except do they best at what you're good at and over time you will have repeat customers and referrals from word of mouth because you're probably the last honest one left.
