Ok to the vegans and vegetarians who eat faux meat products.?
Are you not, at least socially, saying it ok to eat meat when you eat products that look like meat?
Be polite please, I’m not a troll and just want your thoughts.
Thank you.

From the answers I'm getting maybe I didn't make myself clear.
By eating products that looks like meat are not vegans and vegetarians, continuing to give support to the meat industry. Think about it, by eating something that looks, and tastes (sort of like) meat are you not by example, saying you don't have problem with the meat industry and telling people, by example, who eat meat the same thing?

You missed the whole point. Cake no matter what the shape is cake, just by looking at it I can tell its cake. But I've see faux meat products, shrimp comes to mind, that looks just like meat.

I am a vegan and have been for almost a year. I was a vegetarian for a little over 2 years before that. This month marks 3 years since I have eaten meat.
I do not consume faux meat products often because they are high in sodium and are made with processed soy. I choose to eat other products instead. However, some people that are vegan or vegetarian have cravings that I don't have and choose to take them out on these imitation meats. I do not believe it is saying that it's okay to eat meat when you eat these products, and I avoid eating them for health reasons. However, I do see your point and I have thought of this. I think that some people may think that it is meat if they don't know you don't eat meat, but to some people this doesn't matter to them. I personally wish to be publicly known as a vegan because I am proud of it. I would more than likely avoid eating these products in public because of this issue, but that would just be so that people don't think I'm eating meat, not because I think it's wrong to eat the imitation of it.
lol, it definitely doesn't make you less of a vegetarian. I think it's great when someone can get over a craving without sacrificing their beliefs. We can't help it if we get occasional cravings, that's not something someone has control over. Anyways, I eat them occasionally. Maybe once a week. Actually, twice or so a week would be more like my limit if it's homemade, and even less than once a week if it's the processed stuff from the store. Regardless though, for me it's not really about it being a fake version of meat. It might have been back when I was a beginner, but now I don't really regard them as 'fake meats', it's more about them tasting good in what I make. And I definitely don't feel bad or like I'm a bad vegan, cause no animal has to suffer or die for me to get it....it's not real meat. It's completely different.
I personally do not like the products that taste like meat but do enjoy, Soy Jerky, Tofurky sausage and an occasional Gardenburger which seem to have a good taste of their own without tasing like animal flesh. I dont see anything wrong with faux meat. The whole idea is not to kill animals. Eating faux meat does not kill animals. I think people get hung up and see eating meat as an addiction. They equate faux meat products to an alcoholic drinking near beer. This is not the case. Eating meat is not an addiction, it is a choice. Going vegetarian/vegan is choosing to help the environment and animals. Eating faux meat is just another option. I will say though if you have not eaten meat in a long time, some of these products will be gross. In, my own opinion, Boca Burgers are too much like meat and I dont like them.
They make products like these so that it is just as easy to cook for a vegetarian than a meat-eater. Since vegetarians don't get any of the protien from meat, boca and Morning Star and stuff try to provide more of it. I personally like veggie burgers and stuff. If you go for so long without eating meat, you reall can't taste a difference.
a lot of vegetarians were raised on meat and get cravings for meat. so having this fake meat that is also reach in protien is great.
i see where the "saying it ok to eat meat when you eat products that look like meat" is coming from but i'm not sure how to answer that besides what i put up there.
