Do you have faith in the judicial system?

A friend of mine, has had a recent and minor run in with the system. But through ALL of it, out local District Attorney has dropped the ball, almost missing filing dates, getting the details wrong, having to correct his paperwork, and the judge complained that my friend should be punished not for his crime, but for what he COULD do in the future.

I'm starting to wonder, if they have done so poorly on such a simple case, if they could handle a really hard one!

Just curious, how many have faith in the whole judicial process, and laws? I dont see much fairness when a theif can sometimes send more time in jail than a murderer!

Only if they are fair and not bias, look at the case of the two border patrols, they were unjustified trial and sentence just to keep the Mexican government happy. Do you call that justice ???

Everyone has a horror story. Here is my perspective: I have more faith in our judicial system getting it right eventually than I have in, say, the judicial systems of Iraq, Iran, Russia, China, Uganda...you get where I'm going with this, don't you? The US isn't perfect, but at least we try for justice as opposed to judgement, and at least we have paths of redress and appeal to follow if judge, prosecutor or DA make errors along the way.

I agree with you A 100%.
I see to types of laws in this world.
1/ the laws for the rich and people who are in the law.
2/ the laws for poor people.
A fine example of the rich ( the OJ Simpson trial )
A fine example of people in law (a judge who gets busted for 3rd offense in IL for OWI and still decides the fate of other drunk drivers)
AND 3/ well for the poor, just read the local news paper.
Then people wounder why most people have little faith in the system. Its not hard to understand why.
Our whole system is about $$$$$$ not whats right.
Heres a good one/ did you know that you can go to prison for 2 t 5 years for hurting animals, but if you beat a woman you get less time. I bet you woman feel real good about that ?You woman mean less than a fricking animal in the court system. A animal has more rights than a human being.

I respect the judicial system and have faith in it. I am speaking from 30 years of experience as a trial and appellate lawyer. No system is perfect but it is the best system in the world.

Wish you had described the "minor run in with the system" so we could have better perspective on your issue.

But, YES, I have great faith in the judicial system for those who are politically connected and have money.
