Confused...Work Release Program?

A friend of mine was found guilty today of a 4th degree felony. The judged ordered that he be allowed to work, and only spend his nights and weekends in the local jail, for no more than 9 months. He gave him until Friday to work it out.

Does that mean he will kee his current job, or will he get one of the pulling weeds type jobs?

In New Mexico by the way.

A work release program would allow him to keep his current job. That does not mean his current employer will allow him to stay on the job with a felony conviction. I work for a financial institution. By law, my employer can't employ anyone with a felony on their record.

Does he have a Public Defender? His attorney should ask about the conditions of his work release....Does he already have a Probation Officer? They could answer your question too....I would bet that the judge, attorney etc. would work with your friend,,,,He's obviously not a "flight risk" so that's in his favor....

Shout out to 'Burque........
