Where are good places to take a shower on the road?
Free and inexpensive places are preferred. (And not truck stops. They seem like a prison to me...)

When it rains, is a good time. It is free, inexpensive, and if you choose to keep your attire on, you have a free laundered laundry to boot.
If you choose to take your attire off, you may be at a risk of being incarcerated, at which time it will feel like prison for sure.
In the event that it is not raining, then may I suggest a local YMCA? Campgrounds usually have excellent places to shower, and naturally they do not restrict traffic.
This one is a little bit on the shady side, go to any motel on the strip, and ask if you can take a look-see in the apartment. Some will say no. But you might be surprised to find that someone might hand you a key. How long would a shower take?

This is one of those timing skills that requires you to turn on the charm.
Go to a motel between 8-10 AM when the maid is cleaning the room .Offer her 5 bucks to take a shower- alone . bring your own soap ,bring your own towel , don't make a mess and don't take forever.
It does work

Truck stops are great places as they are safe and well maintained. Usually the YMCA will have showers too.

I believe KOA Kampgrounds have a shower program for drivers. Stop in a flee bag motel for a few hours & catch some ZZZZZZZ and a shower. . . .
