How much is your pet worth?

"Most state laws consider animals — even beloved pets — to be only personal property. That means that even for the loss of a faithful family companion, a successful civil lawsuit would not likely produce much reward."

This mornings article on the lose of pets, through the fault of pet food companies, infuriated me.
My cat is worth more to me than ALL of the gold, silver, platinum, and money in the world. He is not just "property." I'm sure that many who lost their beloved pets felt the same about them.
People used to be considered property. But that has fortunately changed. Pets are not property, they are companions to many people.
I know that many people don't think much about the animals we call pets, but just how much is your "pet" worth?
My cat is irreplacable, therefore worth billions to me.

I strongly second that. I own a Rottweiler the most gentle loving creature I have ever known. I paid only a hundred dollars for him as a puppy but I wouldn't take a thousand. How can you place a value on love.

Well, let´s put it this way, If I were to borrow it, which will never happen...It would cost the person $ 100 million for 5 minutes with it, still I´d have to go along.
