Due to the melamine found in the Wilbur-Ellis rice protein, Blue
Buffalo has recalled one production run of their Spa Select Kitten dry food
marked “Best Used By Mar. 07 08 B.”
"Of the 4,752 bags produced in this one run, we were able to
prevent the majority from ever entering retail distribution."
FDA confirms that Blue Buffalo is one of four other companies that
received this supply.

Every batch has been tested, and only *one batch* was contaminated. There is no need to worry about other formulas or even Kitten formulas outside that date. Personally, I would be more concerned about other brands, since Wilbur-Ellis admits to delivering the tainted ingredient to two other companies that haven't come forward yet.

It is no longer in recall. But that is exactly the reason I don't feed manufactured foods to my cats. You never know when it might get recalled again and kill a bunch of animals.

Which is exactly why I'll soon be placing an order for some nice ground goat meat! lol
No more dithering; those girls are going to start eating raw meat, one way or the other, even if I have to buy exotic items like elk, ostrich, bison.....

I just switched my three over to EVO NO GRAIN. Kitties don't need grain anyway. It tops the list for causes of allergies and digestive problems. They need a high protein diet, they are carnivores. You can use EVO NO GRAIN for cats and kittens alike, according to the manufacturer.

The common factor in all these recalled foods seems to be grains and grain products. I suspect we'll see more recalls in the coming days.
