Why do you think about the incidents on a protest on May 1, police vs latin people?

I take it you're referring to what happened recently in L.A. The group had a legal right to hold their protest demonstration and were being peaceful. This is one of the most important rights we have in this country - without the right to free speech and assembly, we have no rights. So many civil liberties have been eroded, it's scary to see these kinds of strong armed tactics being used. People have a right to assert even unpopular political opinions.

While a person may be an illegal alien, that doesn't justify using rubber bullets and batons on them - force is only legal to use when a life is in danger or when it is otherwise justified. This was not justified - even the L.A. police chief has said so.

There were reports that the protesters were throwing things at the police. As if the protesters were all innocent. I'm sure. I think they should have rounded everyone up and checked their papers to see if they were legal or not. They should have shipped out the illegals.

The police really messed up. There were all these illegals there, throwing rocks and bottles at them, and they didn't call INS to arrest them. Other than that, what part of the order to disburse didn't the people understand?

More Stupid Policing - if there is no violence ongoing, then the stupid policing policies still practiced in most large cities will make sure it starts - they come prepared for riots and egg on or overreact to tactical situations to make sure their riot gear doesn't go unused.

The illegal protesters were throwing stuff at the police. They should have all been rounded up and deported.

They got what they deserved.
