Noise in high def?

Question

when i play Blue Ray discs, and watch shows in HD there seems to be a lot of noise in the image. this happens when its a dark picture, or when images in the back round are out of focus. the focused image looks great, but the picture around it, not so much. is there anyway to reduce this noise? i'm using Monster 1000 cable all the way around.

oh, and the tv is a Mitsubishi Diamond WS-55813

This may be simply "film noise" embedded in the content. Many studios keep the noise to give the DVD a "film look".

Some HD-DVDs are also poorly made.

Not my favorite setup. but try to watch those movies in "Movie/Warm mode". The screen is less bright and masks some of the noise. Try also to set "sharpness" as low as you can.  Default sharpness usually amplifies this type of noise.

There could be a couple of different things going on here. first off is how are these's players hooked up to the TV and what are you using to watch the HDTV ( do you have a cable box or using the intenal one? are they going thru your DVI port on the back of your TV. or do you have them going thru the component inputs or do you have them running thru a Receiver then to the TV. all these question would have to be answered first before answer can be given.
