Will be in Cork for one day in a couple weeks and was looking for suggestions of what to do. Am planning on taking a bus to check out the Midleton Distillery (being a huge whiskey lover), but am at a loss after that. Any suggestions?
I'm scouring the web for a decent B&B right now as well so would appreciate any input in that area as well.
BTW, how much does a pack of smokes cost in Ireland? Should I jut pack extra (coming from LA)?

Some ideas for you.. Visit Shandon church and ring the bells. Walk out Sunday's Well road and maybe visit the old city jail (Gaol) which is in Sunday's Well. Cross the rather lovely footbridge at the Mardyke to Fitzgeralds Park. You could visit the Cork meusum in Fitzgeralds park. From there, visit the grounds of UCC and the Glucksman Gallery. Walk around the (small) city centre, visit the Old English Market, go for a pint in Tom Barry's pub on Barrack street which has a lovely beer garden or The Franciscan Well pub on the North Mall.
Most B&Bs are fine. Would recommend one on the Western Road I suppose as within walking distance of the city centre and the number 8 bus is very frequent from there also. I don't smoke so can't say how much ciggies cost but they are probably expensive alright. Remember you are not permitted to smoke in pubs, resturants or any workplace. You will be able to smoke in your b&b room if you specify smoking (as it is a residence). Check out Gulliver.ie for booking.
