Please comment on afternoon loon?
The afternoon loon is singly
A mournful sound, bounded
On one by river rats, tother
By river scum.
Aye, Nick jumped up and
Claimed his own. Claimed
The mourn of the afternoon
Loon. Ye will ne'er be among
My mightiest demons, loon,
But ye have said place among
Me lowest.
The loon agreed and thus
The unholy pact.
And to this day, the loon stalks the shores of good people, but has nary gotten a one.
Amuse the intellectually disadvantaged?
You answered your own snipe. Amused?
I am. You are the one who commented.

- Anonymous1 decade agoI am absolutely astounded at your clever creativity when it comes to the manipulation of words, so that even the most intellectually challenged could impart whatever meaning they wished into such an offering. One could almost think that you were on their level, such is the magnitude of your accomplishment. I stand back in awe and wonder and ask myself whether this might be the future of poetry. Is there no beginning to your talent, I ask myself. Surely there are few others amongst your contemporaries who could hope to match you (even though they try) when it comes to works of this standard. You are in a class of your own, but that is only as it should be and is a fact acknowledged by anyone who knows what's what in the realms of poetry. Every day I try and work myself up into a state of lethargy, in readiness for your latest submission. I take my hat off to you and your selfless charity work in bringing entertainment (of a sort) to the feeble-minded and addle-brained who frequent the poetry site. You leave no stone unturned in your ceaseless exploration for new ways in which to amuse the intellectually disadvantaged and I feel that you should be recognized for it. Take a bow.
- 1 decade agoThis could easily be sung. It is inherently musical with fine imagery, especially 'the mourn of the afternoon/Loon.' It would be perfect as a Halloween poem, when evil creatures stalk the night.
- 1 decade agoI have sat silently and watched the loon proudly skim the water, only to disappear beneath it's chilly depths to reappear a great distance away.
