Please comment on afternoon loon?

The afternoon loon is singly

A mournful sound, bounded

On one by river rats, tother

By river scum.

Aye, Nick jumped up and

Claimed his own. Claimed

The mourn of the afternoon

Loon. Ye will ne'er be among

My mightiest demons, loon,

But ye have said place among

Me lowest.

The loon agreed and thus

The unholy pact.

Update:

And to this day, the loon stalks the shores of good people, but has nary gotten a one.

Update 2:

Amuse the intellectually disadvantaged?

You answered your own snipe. Amused?

I am. You are the one who commented.

‘’Worship me’’ proclaimed Lucifer, with temerity

‘’There are no thrones in heaven for one such as thee.’’

‘’Then destroy will I must, for you my foe arise

Then do so dear foe, for you I so despise’’

They build their sandcastles, on foundations of clay

Swathed in a fibrous bond, that ne’er say light of day

Captured the eternal living one, seeking to acquire

For such prestigious acumen they implicitly conspire

Not I, not this oh noble soul, for I of other worlds

Ne’er did forsake my Father’s kiss, nor err from life’s travails.

What I of demon conspirators seeking higher stand

I pervade in each grade, as once not done, unturned.

The world embroiled in darkness where worms do brighter glow

Such comely witch and wenches, with ardency do show

Scheming devious plans, to win by praises drive

Consumed by gain, did not refrain from shooting poisoned arrows

Alas this world of Gods and foes, and many lie between

Where man is as faithful as the one he seeks to glean

God is mighty greater, reluctant to endure

The missives of a fly by night, doomed to hellish sphere.

Not I, not this, nor life remiss, that I should deign concur.

The circus continuum does prolong what surely will occur.

Speak again, of another’s pain, and tears for the silent good

Where jackals breed and demand their needs, where Gods once did stood.

The fairer ones will to victory such intolerance endure

Their empyrean lies in ruins, battle on we must to end secure ...

I am absolutely astounded at your clever creativity when it comes to the manipulation of words, so that even the most intellectually challenged could impart whatever meaning they wished into such an offering. One could almost think that you were on their level, such is the magnitude of your accomplishment. I stand back in awe and wonder and ask myself whether this might be the future of poetry. Is there no beginning to your talent, I ask myself. Surely there are few others amongst your contemporaries who could hope to match you (even though they try) when it comes to works of this standard. You are in a class of your own, but that is only as it should be and is a fact acknowledged by anyone who knows what's what in the realms of poetry.

Every day I try and work myself up into a state of lethargy, in readiness for your latest submission. I take my hat off to you and your selfless charity work in bringing entertainment (of a sort) to the feeble-minded and addle-brained who frequent the poetry site. You leave no stone unturned in your ceaseless exploration for new ways in which to amuse the intellectually disadvantaged and I feel that you should be recognized for it.

    Take a bow.

This could easily be sung. It is inherently musical with fine imagery, especially 'the mourn of the afternoon/Loon.'

It would be perfect as a Halloween poem, when evil creatures stalk the night.

  • I have sat silently and watched the loon proudly skim the water, only to disappear beneath it's chilly depths to reappear a great distance away.

Trashing Minnesota's state bird will not garner any Viking points! lol The sound of a loon is a sound never forgotten. Interesting poem.

The unholy pact. Sad that you have to have the good with the bad to see which is which. Very nice
