Since the recent check by Microsoft to validate your copy of windows, you may be getting a message that your copy is not valid. Well I have found a site that claims to be able to get around that. I am not able to test the methods they suggest since my version is legal.
If you believe your software is genuine, visit the Microsoft forum at the link below. Microsoft created this forum specifically to help people with validation issues involving Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Office. You may get one or two rounds of "canned" responses when you post to the forum, but if you're patient a human will get to you and they WILL be able to help.
If you are **knowingly** in possession of illegal software, you're SOL. In that case your only choices are to live with the messages, reformat & reinstall, or go legal and buy a legitimate copy.
