I think I might be anorexic?

Ok here's whats up: I have been trying to stay away from food for months now and i NEVER under ANY circumstances eat breakfast sometimes not even lunch. When most people just LOOK at me they think I'm anorexic (unless they have actually seen me eat like my friends) and people have actually told me this. If I'm not anorexic now i will be later in life and I'm usually not hungry and if I am I ignore it. If I'm with my friends or out to dinner or something then OF CORSE I eat but if it were just me then i wood probably be dead right now from starvation. Please help me find a solution to this problem BESIDES TELL MY PARENTS because I would NEVER EVER tell them that. Please and thank you

K Blondie look. Food is a wonderful thing. I would know lol. Breakfast is something that I always used to skip, it was an unknown factor in my life as well but after a while I became weak with sudden headaches and dizzy spells because I wasn't nourished. Even if you don't "feel like it" or just "don't want to" you should at least drink a cup of juice and a fruit for breakfast. Same at lunch even if you don't "feel like it"eat something. Make a healthy timed schedule that you can keep track of thats healthy and follow it. Set an alarm if you have to but let your body know that it can't skip out on food. If you feel fat then just get proper excersize. Most American's are obese not because of their eating habit but because there is no excersize in thier life. Note: im not telling you to indulge then run yourself to death but always remember that there has to be a balance. I really hope you can help yourself get better and if things do get to rough do try talking to someone. Even a close friend or teacher or religious person because sometimes we can't do it alone. I wish you best of Luck and God Bless!!

I have the same problem as you babe. I never eat breakfast, usually just lunch or dinner, pretty much one meal a day. I'm skinny, people think I have an eating disorder, but really I don't think I do. I just don't really get hungry. I guess some people just actually enjoy eating more than others. Me, I find food to just be an annoyance in my day, and I sometimes I think it's kinda gross. =/ As long as you're not refraining from eating because of the way you look, then you're not really anorexic. BUT, that being said, you still might have a problem if you're losing weight or just not eating much at all. I would just try to eat enough each day, two or three meals and snacks sometimes, even if you're not hungry, just so you can stay healthy. That's what I do, I try to eat as much as other people [even though I'm not hungry] so I can keep a healthy weight. If you still don't want to eat and for some reason it's an issue for you, you need to talk to somebody trustworthy, even if it isn't a parent, so you can help yourself get better.

Btw, your weight-to-height ratio is just fine.

Hope I helped, hun. =]

Yes, you may be an anorexic, but you really need to talk to someone in a medical field for help! Talk to the school nurse, or go to a nutritionist to ask advice. You really need to eat at regular intervals. They recommend that you eat at least 6 small meals each day spaced at 3 hours apart. Healthy small meals. A diet rich in fruits, vegs, low fat, high protein and plenty of water is good for you. Try to limit high fat products, baked goods, regular soda, etc. Like I said a person who specializes in eating disorders or a nutritionist would be the ideal person to get advice from. Regular exercise is also great for you! The main thing is to eat healthy, not starve yourself and you do sound to be starving yourself some. Maybe by a watch with an alarm and set it to go off at least three times during the day to remind you to eat if you have a problem forgetting to eat because you are not hungry! That may help! Your body needs food for energy and to function properly. If it does not get the proper fuel, it will start to shut down and you could cause damage to your organs that will effect your life in the future. Please get some counseling and Good Luck and Take Care of Yourself!!!!

oh honey...
i am really sorry.
i know how tough it is. i had a close friend that was anerexic. please, you must get help. my friend passed away after she was going through that rough time from low blood pressure. her heart just stopped beating because it had no fuel. i am telling u now, i do not want to hear any more sad stories that have resulted from another eating disorder. if you do not want your parents knowing, gaining muscle back is the only way to fix the hole that u have dug. u need to make sure to eat every meal of every day and throw snacks in with it. that means a large breakfast lunch and dinner along with healthy snacks. if you are still worried that u will be fat or whatever, gain healthy muscle and definatly not fat by eating nutritious foods such as meat, milk products, cheese, and sandwitches. peanuts are very healthy for you and will help with bringing up your protein level. these are the best ways to gain all of your weight back but still stay very thin.
if you are brave enough, tell your parents. i have the most strict parents ever, but i know that they would want me to go and tell them if i ever needed help like this. anyone would rather go get help for their daughter than to see them die right in front of them on a hospital bed.
hope u do good kid =].

Some people actually consider that a normal weight for you height, but perhaps leaning toward the skinny side. If you're a purposely ignoring the fact that you are hungry or you're doing it because you're unhappy with you're weight, then you may have a problem and should talk to your parents. It's not a bad thing, many people don't know how to eat right. The worst that could happen is they could take you to a nutrionalist who will tell you how to eat properly. If you want to be thin, that's fine. But you have to eat the right things (and not just one meal a day) to keep youself from getting sick.
