Can space weapons trigger a war with Russia? Are we provoking the Russians or is it all Putin's fault?

"It's necessary to legalize the game rules in space," Popovkin said. He warned that the complexity of space weapons could trigger a war.

Neocon foreign policy makes everyone uneasy. Can't blame them.

This may not provoke a war in the conventional sense, but it could potentially bring back the "cold war" mentality between both nations. "Spy vs. spy" revisited. Of course, Putin himself has not helped matters since his gov't has given support to Iran's hardline regime. Both sides are basicaly provoking each other to react irrationally.

"Announcing one's destiny before it is fully realized will certainly doom one to utter failure."

Why would the US gov't be foolish enough make public such plans if they know it will incite steadfast opposition amongst other nations? I think the "Iran deterrant" is merely a smokescreen to mask something far more sinister.

Making your enemies afraid with an effort to make their nuclear deterrent obsolete at the same time you are making a powerplay for the world's oil supply and ultimately for control of the world's economy could very easily start a war.

If I were a leader involved in the obvious alliance Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and France have formed I would be advocating a preemptive strike using a nuclear device smuggled into the U.S. through our open southern border. Since the corporations run the politicians in this country I would take out NY city and stop this neocon aggression in its tracks.

Forunately, I'm not one of those leaders....or a 12 year old.

I can't believe you are a top contributor. Space weapons are the obvious end game at this point. There are weapons to handle just about anything here on earth. Space is the next frontier. Obviously. Space weapons won't trigger war, they'll prevent war.

As far as provoking anyone, when was the last time you picked a fight with Randy Couture. You don't fool with people that will hand you your *%&. The U.S. enjoys unparallelled freedom because we can INSURE it. Have you been watching Iraq at all? If you can't stomp the enemy's @#$, you can't live in peace. Make no mistake, Russia, China, et al are our enemies. Dominance of space makes ICBM's moot and our enemies afraid. I want our enemies afraid. Sun Tzu's Art of War can be distilled to this one point, "to win without fighting is best". How did he propose you do that? By fielding a military so formidible, your enemies would decline to fight you. I learned this in kindergarten on my first playground.

Really, top contributor? My 12 year old understands this better than you.

Are WE provoking THEM? If they really want us to stop building missile defense systems, they should stop giving missile technology to Iran and Syria. Putin is just trying to make problems -- but with their track record on proliferation, can you really blame the United States for wanting more defense capabilities?

But no, we won't go to war over it. Conventional warfare doesn't happen anymore. We each know that we can destroy the other and will take steps to make sure it doesn't come to that. Same as with the Cuban Missile Crisis, Regan's Star Wars program, and the whole Cold War.

Take a closer look at Putin's policies. He's as "neo con" as you get. If those policies make him uneasy, he has no one but himself to blame.

And who said that the cold war was over?
