How much does a taxi cost from Oakland Airport to Union Square in San Francisco?
Quick question. I am flying in to Oakland Airport this Friday, and was curious about how much a taxi would cost from the airport to Union Square in San Francisco? Thanks in advance!

For those who recommend I take the BART; can anyone detail the route to take from OAK? Do I need to take the AirBart from the airport to the Colisseum Station, and then take another train from the Colisseum station to my location in SF? Thanks!

Yes, Bart is the cheapest and Easiest! There is a bus outside oakland airport clearly marked for BART. Lots of people use it!
It's free bus, takes you to the Bart station. Get on the platform side that says going to san francisco. Trains are marked by their destination end point. You can take any train going to san francisco. You will go a few stops in oakland then under the bay, in a tunnel. First stop next will be embarcadero, then Montgomery (financial district) then will be Powell Station. Powell Station is just a few blocks from union square. Good luck. Don't be afraid to ask, we have lots of tourists. And please, don't be shocked, lots of homeless. Don't give them money..they get all they need and just use the money for drugs/alcohol, which makes the problem linger.

Taxis to Downtown San Francisco from Oakland Airport will cost between $50-55, not including tip (and assuming good traffic). Using public transit, you'll only pay $6.35.
Here's how to do it:
1. AirBART is just a shuttle bus from the airport to the Coliseum station. There are clearly marked stops on traffic islands outside the arrival hall. AirBART fare is $3.00.
2. From the Coliseum station, board any train bound for "DALY CITY" or "MILLBRAE." Get off at Powell Street station and follow the signage to the exit for Union Square. BART fare is $3.35.
- If this is your first time in San Francisco, however, you might want to take a taxi. Seeing the skyscrapers and water from the Bay Bridge makes for a far better impression than a subway tunnel.
BART is your best bet by far! Just take either the Air BART shuttle or AC Transit routr 58 from the airport to the Coliseum station and a direct BART train into the city from there, cost $2 for the shuttle and about $4 for BART. Once in SF exit the system at Powell street and you are only two short blocks away! Good Luck!
Yes, take BART definately. Ask a porter to direct to the bus that takes you to BARt then take the train to SF and get off on Montgomery or any downtown city exit. You could walk from there if you want to see the city. Thats what I do, I never catch a cab, there for pus sies, I take the bus or walk.
