Praying For Peace...?

A CNN journalist heard about a very old Jewish man in Jerusalem who had been going to the Western Wall to pray, twice a day, every day, for a long, long time. That’d make a good story, she decided.

So she drove to the wall and, sure enough, there was the elderly gent, praying away. She watched him for an hour and, as he turned to leave, approached him for an interview.

“Rebecca Smith, CNN,” she said. “Sir, how long have you been coming to the Western Wall to pray?”

“Sixty years.”

“Sixty years! Amazing! What do you pray for?”

“I pray for peace between Christians, Jews and Muslims. I pray for all hatred to stop and I pray for all our children to grow up in safety and friendship.”

“So how do you feel after doing this for so long?”

“Like I’m talking to a bloody wall!”

lol....you've been away a while Londoner, you missed alot, in 2 days it all went to h*** in a handbasket. Pardon the expression please. Maybe you'll be the one to bring YA back to peace? *wishful thinking* but if you can, I nominate you for the next President of Israel! Peace! :)

Nice! A very apt story.

As you may recall, from the start I have been optimistic and suggested that peace IS possible. Sadly, I think during the time I have spent on this website, that optimism has suffered and now I don't feel so confident that peace can be achieved. I feel terrible saying this, but let's face it, we can't even keep things nice here on Yahoo! answers, so what chance do they have out in the Middle East?

Sorry for the pessismism, am just being honest about how I'm feeling.

By the way, lovely to have you back, LONDONER.

Until reading the last line, I was thinking this man is a great man, I didn't think it is a joke but once I reach the last line and read it, it made laugh ha ha ha. Was he talking to the bloody wall or praying to G-d..lol
Thank you.

EDIT: I notice that all those who thought of the post as a joke got thumbs down and those who took it totally seriously got so many thumbs up. The man makes good points but the post looks more like a joke to me.lol.

cute.... I've heard a dozen variations of the same joke.

But, despite your British background, I take issue with your calling it a "bloody wall"..... :D
