is there no indication, gauge or meter for car battery life? Each time I find out is the time when I'm stranded when the battery is totally dead. With new technology surely it's possible to include some kind of gauge so (women) drivers won't get stranded in unsafe places at the wrong time

not really, all you can do is keep track of how old the battery is and try and have it replaced before it goes bad,all cars have a light or a gage but it doesn't always tell you when its not holding a charge or giving problems, the best you can do is,replace them every 5 years ,good luck on it.
Hard to say. Car batteries do not like being completely flattened and may lose capacity as a result. However if it now starts the car you may have got away with it, or the battery has lost some capacity/life may be shorter but will function for a while. Use the car as normal and see how you go - if there is any sign of the battery struggling to start the car or not holding a charge after an hours run or so then you will need a new one
The light or gauge on the dash only indicates charging, it has nothing to do with whether the battery can hold a charge. Although if it shows high charge rate, there is probably cause to have it looked at. Regular load-testing at a shop is about the only preventive step. Those little green "eyes" are about useless too.
I dont think so,you may need a new alternater and also be sure the battery has water in all 6 cells by poping off the caps on top of battery with a flat head screw driver, while you have the caps off put a regular asprin in each cell, trust me i learned about the asprin yrs ago from my best friends dad,if it still is dead take alternater out and most auto stores will test it,if it aint the alt it's the battery is shot, good luck, and have a safe and great night.Where gloves when you touch any battery any time.
not really. The "experts" say to change the battery every 4 years or so. Or you could have your mechanic do a battery load test to it at least once a year to let you know the condition of your battery. Most new sealed batterys(atleast the ones I have seen) have what looks like a hole with glass over it. If you look into the hole and you see green, the battery is still in good condition internally
