What is with all the people on here over the last few days? People are asking if they should get a tattoo ect... and the first thing most people are saying is "yeah get the tattoo but get it some place that can be covered".
I hate ignorant people that think it's ok for people to get tattoos as long as they are covered. I see tattoo as beautiful art work and i love to see it on people why cover it?
MY QUESTIONS ARE.....
Do you feel like you have to cover your tattoos? Do you find people with tattoos less attractive because they have ink? Would you not date someone just because they have visable tattoos? How do you view tattoos and why?

i completely agree. u either want one or you dont. if you do, dont be afraid to show it!
I love all my tattoos. However, work does not. I have to wear a thick-banded watch on my right arm just a little higher than where a normal watch would sit, because work disagrees with me on tattoos. Not all jobs are like that, but many places are. I think that's what people are getting at when they say to get them someplace that can be covered up. When I'm not at work, I don't cover my tattoos. I think tattoos can make a person more beautiful, even if it's only because it's something that has meaning to that person, and gives them confidence. Tattoos and piercings would never effect what I think about people. When I look at old pictures of myself, where I'm missing a tattoo or piercing, I think I look so naked and awkward. I think that my tattoos make me more beautiful and show off my personality more.
In a perfect world it shouldn't matter if you have a tattoo and were trying to get a certain job, etc. Unfortunately it's not a perfect world though and I can understand why those who are just starting out in life need to be careful about tattoo placement. I didn't get my first one until I was 38. I'm at a point in life where I don't care what other people think - self employed, so not worried about a job. The only time I do cover my tattoos is if I'm at my son's school. Those people are generally not open minded or accepting and I don't want MY choices to affect HIM.
I like them, they are interesting, and individual.
I was talking to a friend today who is getting one, and we were discussing their significance. I had an idea that they are nice reminders of a different time, something that will always be with you, good or bad. wierd though, because I have 2 right now, and those times (like how and where exactly I was in my life) are kinda fading in my memory, but some things stay. our conclusion was that the philosophy or psychology of why and what they do to you isn't that important.
it's individuality and decoration and a part of you that you put there until you're done.
my first tattoo nobody ever saw, and I wondered that if I had a visible tattoo, would if I'd act different, like to show it off or something. and I don't think I do, now that I've had a visible one for a year or so now. where I live in brooklyn, ny. tattoos seem more common and generally accepted. people are people, tattoos don't really change them, I've found. they may make them look cooler or more intimidating, or more 'complicated', but people are people.
I don't think I'd get one on my face or hands, maybe my hands but white ink? I don't know why, perhaps so I could cover them completely, if I wanted to.
sometimes I don't want people to see my tattoos, for different reasons, if I don't necessarily like you, I really don't want to share anything about me with you, I think that's usually the reason.
in conclusion, tattoos are awesome, get as many as you want, and the dude with the sleeves and the negative14 gauge earholes is just another dude, waiting for the train.
I wish the world was more open minded, but sad truth is alot of people, people with the power to give you a job, are very narrow minded. I love my tattoos and do not regret any of them, but they can all be covered. The only one I would change is my chest tattoo, I would of, in hindsight, gotten it lower as I now have to dress very conservatively in my professional wear. It shouldn't matter that I have 6 tattoos, all that should matter is that I'm a great accountant, but the bottom line is that it does matter. Visibility is subjective as well. I consider my tats to be fairly visible, I have a chest piece, an ankle piece, one on the back of neck, but I don't have, or plan on getting any on my arms. I don't disparage people for getting them there as I feel it is an individual choice. Just alot of stuff changes from when you're 18-21 and start getting tattoos until your a "grown up" When I got my first tattoo I worked as a waitress/bartender, and thought that was what I was gonna do for the rest of my life. Well, come my mid 20s I regretted not going to college and wanted more in life. Now I'm an accountant so those flowers on my chest are frowned upon by stuffed shirt types and must remain covered in professional settings.
