Does anyone know where I can buy 8x68S rounds for a Mauser hunting rifle?
My father in law got a Mauser hunting rifle from his late father who actually bought it at the Mauser plant in Germany many years ago. He has a box of rounds and they are 8x68S. Does anyone know where I can find this round?
Thanks

Has anyone had experience with this round that you could comment?
I gave up on a reliable source ages ago. Huntington carries brass most of the time, but even that wasn't available for a few weeks the last time I bought it. You'll probably be happier with handloads, anyway. The Germans have a propensity for loading light bullets at hypervelocity, though there are a few good loads over there, and for anything you'd want to shoot with it, you'll probably be happier with something like the 195 grain Hornady, or Nosler's 180 grain BT or 200 Grain Partition.
This is a German non-military caliber designed for large game. In many countries, the civilian use of "military" calibres is prohibited, which is a ridiculous law when you think about it, as this calibre has similar ballistics to 8mm Mauser or .30-06, so what's the point?
I have a friend who is German that now lives here in the US hand he reloads this calibre. He told me that one German firm (RWS, I think) loads commercial ammo for this calibre but he has not found it imported. I think you are going to have to get into reload yourself, or pay a custom reloader a lot of cash for custom ammo.
