Looked pretty good. I'd only change a couple things. Reasons for the change are in parenthesis.
QB: Joe Montana (While Marino had more of a cannon arm, Montana was the best QB in the last 2 minutes of a game.) RB: Barry Sanders FB: Jim Brown WR: Jerry Rice WR: Steve Largent (At the time of his retirement, he held 6 major receiving records, most stood until Rice) TE: Tony gonzales, Shannon Sharpe (redefined the position of Tight End) LT: Jackie Slater (Played 20 seasons (259 games), Blocked for 7 different 1,000-yard rushers, Named 1st or 2nd team All-Pro 5 times, 1st or 2nd team All-NFC 7 times, Named to 7 Pro Bowls) LG: Alan Faneca (7 straight pro bowls, will make the Hall of fame once retires, only Steeler lineman to ever make All-Pro consecutive years.) C: Bruce Matthews (14 straight pro-bowls, played every game in the decade of the 90s, blocked for four 1,000-yard rushers, was in on more than 21,000 plays, Named to NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1990s, at different times-played all line positions) RG: Gene Upshaw (10 AFL/AFC title games, 3 Super Bowls, 7 Pro Bowls, All-league 7 years, 2nd-team All-NFL 4 other times) RT: Rayfield Wright (earned 1st or 2nd-team All-NFL honors 6 consecutive times, Selected to play in Pro Bowl following each of those seasons, Started in 6 NFC championship games and played in 5 Super Bowls, Named to NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1970s) DE: Bruce Smith DE: Reggie White DT: Mean Joe Green DT: Warren Sapp (in his prime. Many of todays DT's coming out of college are measured by him.) LB: Lawrence Taylor (redefined how the position of linebacker was played) LB: Jack Ham (since he could play coverage as well as provide pass rush -most of the other great linebackers were primarilly pass rush specialists) LB: Ray Nitchke CB: Mel Blount (so dominant that the league had to change the rules because of him. Was still dominant.) CB: Dick Night Train Lane SS: Ronnie Lott FS: Paul Krause PR/ KR: Devin Hester K: Morten Anderson P: Ray Guy
Some backups: LB Harry Carson (9 Pro Bowls, including 7 straight, All-Pro (first-team) 1981, 1984; 2nd-team All-Pro 5 times, All-NFC 5 times) LB Dick Butkis (All-NFL 6 years, 8 straight Pro Bowls) LB Mike Singletary (All-Pro 8 times, All-NFC selection 9 straight years, Selected to 10 consecutive Pro Bowls) C Mike Webster (Played every game 10 consecutive years, 1976-1985, team captain nine seasons, Played in 4 Super Bowls, 6 AFC championship games, All-Pro 7 years, All-AFC 5 times, Played in 9 Pro Bowls) DE David Deacon Jones (Specialized in quarterback "sacks", a term he invented, Unanimous all-league 6 straight years, Played in 8 Pro Bowls)
I think there are many guys that you can interchange on this list and still be within reason but as a life long Cowboy fan. Lawrence Taylor was the most dominant defensive player I've ever seen! (Damn he would have looked good with a star on his helmet!) He would have to be on this list! Oh and as long as you're looking for a CB, Mel Blount was pretty darn hard to beat! (man, I hated him) He had strength of a LB and speed of a corner.
