I like Alpine and eD both for the same resaons. for my particular tastes they both offer a good value. there are certainly better sounding pieces of equipment out there, but not many that are as reesonable. i like alpine for the electronics of it and eD for the subs, and i plan to in the future give the component sets a whirl. they cost around 130, and for a component set, you cant go wrong, and they have gotten some great reviews. certainly boston (i know thats your fav) would likely sound better, as would many other brands, but at the 130 price range, i thing eD will hold thier own quite well.
I have never actually heard or even seen the diamond audio stuff, but i am gonna have to take a trip to listen to it someday, everyone seems to rave about them.

Alpine hu always. As for speakers...It depends on what I want my end result to be. I prefer pretty well rounded music. However I still like that brain rattle every now and then. So I end up building and tuning a lot. Right now I'm running Polk components all around. I'm pretty disipointed in there quality. I don't think I go back with them again. Your choice in speakers really has to do with personel preference. What kind of music you listen to and such. I really enjoyed a set of Kickers that I had in my last ride. Believe it or not they had good fill and handled everything I threw at them. At times I would have to back off the gain but they were great. Some speakers just seem to drown out when base really pounds. Not those. Mb Quarts is another personel favorite of mine. They are crystal clear. However you will need to add low end fill with these. But you can hear every last detail in the music.

For head units, Alpine is the king.

Subs, Kicker has it made with square technology.

Speakers, Polk Audio and Boston Acoustics; just plain old awesome.

Amps, Alpine, RF and Kicker would be my favorite; most experience.

My favorite of all would have to be probably Kicker, Alpine, and RF.
