I have: a Megellan Triton 500 GPS; Windows XP; VantagePoint; and the National Geographic Topo Maps.
The instructions from Magellan are bunk. I can get to the point where I am connected to VantagePoint, but I am stuck at this point. The big selling point on this GPS was that the actual National Geographic Topo map can be downloaded onto the GPS.
How do I get the Topo maps onto my GPS?

If you have the unit connected with USB, it works just like transferring files on your computer! You simply move the topo maps to the GPS memory and then on the GPS unit activate the maps! If you have an SD memory card it will hold more than the 8meg limit. It really is just copy them to the unit and activate.

Select “Settings.” Select “Connectivity and press the Enter key. Select “VantagePoint” from the drop-down menu and press the Enter key. Press Escape (esc) to return to the map screen. (YOU DO THIS ON THE GPS)
Then, open the National Geographic topo map application and follow the onscreen instructions to select and customize your region. Once you have defined your region, select “Export” in the map application to transfer it to VantagePoint and your Triton GPS." (YOU DO THIS ON THE COMPTUER)
