It makes more crime because inmates have to deal with crime within the prison. Their anamosity is carried off with them when they leave. Usually, their chances of commiting another crime is just as likey to happen as it would before they went to prison.

Doing volunteer work is much more effective.
It's like children. It is said that those who are disciplned with violence grow up to be higly effected by it more than the discipline itself. Those children who had "time outs" and who were grounded are mostly likely to recognize as a constructive way to deal with problems.

i have no faith in our prisons at all. there is more crime committed behind bars than on the streets. inmates treated and communicate like animals amongst each other. not only that, but once they are released they're released in to the same situation... where they left off. only now with more resentment and anger and less skill to affectively communicate and less opportunity to stray away from a life of crime.

never been there.

Most crimes r committed on the spur of the moment & prison is not the answer.

I agree with jpleeatm. It is an individuals decision he or she can change or they can stay the same. You do just have some very criminal minded people and nothing will change them.

depends on the individual doing the time not the institution... if they want a change thats what they get if not well there gonna learn more of the bad...
