Gas Dryer Taking A Long Time To Dry...?

I have a Frigidaire Gallery series gas dryer that is about 5 years old (it came with the house we purchased).

The dryer seems to take quite awhile to dry clothes. Even a small load will take over an hour (and we have a front-loading Maytag Neptune which is supposed to cut down on dry time).

The clothes heat just fine. We clean the lint trap with every use. I have disassembled and cleaned the entire vent duct line. We even bought one of those kits to clean the lint from inside the dryer with a vaccuum (and wow..I never knew that much stuff gets stuck in there).

After all the cleaning, it hasn't made a bit difference. The venting ducts go straight up and vent out the roof.

The vent run is roughly 12 feet in vertical length, plus a 90 degree turn at the back of the dryer and another roughly 90 degree at the roof to vent out.

Given the current configuration, is the vent length the issue? Would it help to put a "booter" fan in the vent piping that is meant for dryers?

Sorry..."booster" fan, not a "booter" fan.

yes it is a issue you now have an equillivent dryer vent length of 12 feet ,plus 7 feet for the 90= 19 feet of vent, a booster fan is not cheap, in excess of 200.00. in inspecting the frount panel of the dryer, behind the plastic panel that the lint fiter slides into, you should find a lot of lint, this is what will cause long dry times and high energy costs.
hope this helps

It could be the washer is not getting all the water out ot the clothes on the last spin cycle. The next time you're putting some clothes in the dryer wring something out by hand and see if you can get any water to come out. If you can, the trouble is in the washer.

the vent length could be an issue, but i would guess the dryer is trying to die on you. wouldnt hurt to try the booster fan, but my guess is youre looking at a new dryer

The dryer also has an internal fan that blows the heated air. If this is not working, dry time is very long. Check it.

yes i think you have too long of a run. especially since it runs up. I would get a booster fan
