Why do city, state and Federal offices have an email site to contact them?
You never get a reply if you contact them via email, so why do they all have sites 'to' contact them. Same thing with the utility companies, they have email sites, but when you contact them they never reply? Why is that?

To make you think they are consumer and customer friendly...You have less chance of getting a reply via email, than you do of actually talking to someone if you call the 1-800 number....Their phone menus drive me crazy..."press 1 for English..press 2 if you have a question...press 2 again if the question is serious...press 1 if you honestly think you deserve an answer...press 4 if you want an answer by a human....press 2 again, if you have not grown tired of pressing buttons....Then, ring, ring, ring.......Sorry all our agents are busy with other customers, and your call will be answered in the order it was received......Then you get cut off........
Actually, they sometimes do reply. I once went to the FBI site and reported that I had received a business communication that I found disturbing. About a month later, as I was leaving the house, a well dressed young lady and and nice looking gentlemen introduced themselves. One was from the FBI and the other was from the CIA. I was stunned!
Also, my congressman, Peter Roskam of 6th District of Illinois, always answers my emails that I post at his website. My senator, Barack Obama, never replies, but he has been pretty busy running for a higher office.
I don't think they want you to contact them.. They never answer their phones either. You get voice-mail out the wazoo. If they answered you, they might actually have to use a brain cell.
whoa folks i have email numorous folks in govt here in the mid west and i always get an answer -- some are beat around the bush answers but answers never the less!!!
