it's all in the timing and TONS of practice. our 4x100 relay was the best in our area because of all the practice that we did with hand offs. you have to be able to do it with out looking when you are taking the baton from another. when your teammate yells "hand" you have to be in stride whip that hand back when the baton hits you grab and take off.
