need to mount an ISO to a virtual drive?

Can I use my 500gb external drive to create a virtual drive? How would I go about doing that?

yeah.... just tried daemon tools and it won't run. now i can't even uninstall it. any suggestions?

You can use any of the programs the posters above me suggested. PowerISO | Daemon Tools | Alcohol software to load an .ISO file. (I prefer Daemon Tools personally but it's a matter of opinion).

Just to clarify your question, as you may know an ISO file is an Image file of a disc. When these softwares "mount an ISO to a virtual drive" what they do is create a fake (virtual) drive on your computer, with it's own drive letter and everything. You don't need to copy the ISO to another external drive or anything, the program will open the ISO drive from it's current location and run the file.

The result is you being able to manage that file as if it were a Disc inserted into a new extra drive on your "My Computer" folder.

Install software programs like Alcohol 120% they are meant to do exactly what you want, loop back an ISO as a virtual CD the way Linux has been doing for very long time.
