I work at a cat shelter and we always wash our dirty linens, towels, pet beds, etc. in the washing machine there. It is suggested though, if we happened to get sprayed by a cat or a cat gets sick on us, to wash our clothes seperately because sometimes there are BIG messes (there are 315+ cats there) on some of the beds that may have to be washed numerous times before the stain gets out.

As far as the food bowl goes, since it is a cat shelter, we have seperate sinks than the one we use for washing their dishes and bowls than ours during lunch. At home, though, I never put my cat/dogs food bowls/water bowls in the dish washer, I simply clean them in the sink, because if your dog/cat needs food right then and there, sometimes waiting for a dishwasher just isn't an option!

Also, you can use regular detergent with your pet linens, but I really recommend using Nature's Miracle, I never believed it worked as well as people told me, until I started working at the cat shelter, that stuff is like a miracle worker!!! :)

Good luck and I hope I helped some!

I have washed the cat's bedding in the washer but never along with my clothes. I always hand wash the cat's dishes separate from mine. My mother-in-law puts the dog's dish in her dishwasher with everything else and I just think it's gross. Of course, my MIL lets the dog lick the dirty dishes while she's loading the dishwasher , too :p

Most of it, yes. Unless it says somewhere that you can't wash your pet's dishes and towels and stuff in the wash, then that's the only reason that I would worry. If it doesn't say anything, then yes, you can wash them. I wash all of my cat's stuff in the dishwasher and in the washer/dryer. It's safer for them because they can get sick, if not sicker than us by not washing them.

I always run the animals dishes in the dishwasher with our dishes. We have a light that detects bacteria, I did an experiment one time. I washed one dogs dish by hand and ran the other through the dishwasher. The one by hand still showed bacteria on it and the one in the dishwasher did not. I do not run the bedding through the wash with our things, just because they get so much hair on them, even after shaking them out alot remains and I dont want to get anymore hair on our items

you can wash a pets dish into the dishwasher with your dishes because it gets hot enough to kill any bacteria anyway, and if you are washing them by hand just wash them when you are finished washing all of your dishes, and for the pets bedding or blankets wash them in your washing machine but dont put your stuff into the washing machine with them
