Who discovered the element copper?
I have to do a project for my Chemistry class about the element Copper. Can someone please tell me who discovered it, when, where, and how?
Thanks,
Kimmy

Hey Babe, The sumerians and Ancient egyptians, as well as almost every other ancient culture has used copper. Just too broad of a history for a one man origin. There are signs of smelting of it in these civilizations. I hope thats a help sweetie!

Copper was known to some of the oldest civilizations on record, and has a history of use that is at least 10,000 years old. A copper pendant was found in what is now northern Iraq that dates to 8700 BCE.
