Hey Babe, The sumerians and Ancient egyptians, as well as almost every other ancient culture has used copper. Just too broad of a history for a one man origin. There are signs of smelting of it in these civilizations. I hope thats a help sweetie!

Copper was known to some of the oldest civilizations on record, and has a history of use that is at least 10,000 years old. A copper pendant was found in what is now northern Iraq that dates to 8700 BCE.
