What is the best book for intermediate to advanced level chess players?
Some good ones I own are:
My System - by Nimzovitch Morphy's Games of Chess - by Sergeant The Immortal Games of Capablanca - by Reinfeld
I used to own "Winning Chess Combinations" by Tal, but I cannot find a copy at a reasonable price. Suggestions? (I am unrated, but play am best challenged by players in the 1600 - 1800 USCF rating level). Thanks.

chessmayne, I've tried unsuccessfully to open the "C' page several times now and am stilll unable. Yet, despite all of the inoperative hyperlinks here, you have plenty of interesting links. Thank you.

Secrets of Modern Chess Strategy--John Watson (great!) Learn From the Grandmasters--ed by Raymond Keene Chess Endings Essential Knowledge--Yuri Averbakh Tarrasch's Best Games of Chess--Fred Reinfeld Smyslov's Best Games 1937-1957--Vassily Smyslov (my favorite player) The Life & Games of Mikhail Tal--Mikhail Tal (great!) Fighting Chess--Garry Kasparov
(Well, pretty much anything by Kasparov--especially the books of his world championship matches with Karpov. Personally, I never got that much out of Nimzovich. But Morphy is great--and also Capablanca. You might want to check out his games collection by Golombek--not sure how much duplication there is with the Reinfeld.)
The next book I am buying is called the Art of attack. It deals strictly with the middle game. I do not know how much it can help you as I around a 1400-1450 player.
my dad usually gets the plays off the net, he's a big chess player, at the moment chess judge I'll ask him and reedit it, but just search chessgames on the net, he made a hudge collection by it
