Anyone else thinking that perhaps "Horoscopes" is a friendlier and safer version of "Religion & Spirituality"?
Lots of Qs regarding Spirituality have been posted lately in this section and the truth is that they are quite popular.
Since A LOT of atheists visit R&S, I think it would be considered normal for people who believe in Astrology to do so, too(taking into account that Astrology as well as atheism are included in no particular "religion" whatsoever)
So, do you think that despite its existence under the "Entertainment & Music" category, the Horoscopes section is becoming an alternative choice for those who prefer to discuss about Spirituality without being "mobbed" about their views?

A better than God person: Haha, I wasn't actually referring to atheists...but, we all know that R&S can be quite "dangerous" at times-especially when you mix people of different "religions" who are not willing to see what others are trying to say.

*sorry, a better person than god, I meant.

The Boss, yes, it seems quite reasonable since most people do not really know about the whole concept of Astrology, except from the Sun Signs.
Silver, if you had been more in this section and R&S, you wouldn't fail to get the connection, trust me.

lennihan: Well, then isn't hanging in the Horoscopes section a sin as well?

Good morning, Eliza:)
New age philosophy and spirituality don't really go over all that well in R&S. They just don't get it. Their loss, as far as I'm concerned. Reason being that those who are religious over there are stuck on the notion that "their" God is the right one, and everyone else's is not...and that goes for ALL the religious over in R&S, christians, muslims, wiccans, pagans, etc. etc.... with the possible exception of the Pastafarians, who know someplace deep down that their God really isn't real, anyhow:)
My point being that there's so much closed-off and narrow minded thinking over there that there's really not a lot of room for new age philosophy, which is all about opening up and expanding your viewpoints and ideas, and embracing that which resonates with the individual.
Guess they're happy in their boxes...oh well:(
From my viewpoint, if I were to ask a question regarding philosophy or spirituality, unless it was a question specifically relating to a certain religion, I *would* ask it here rather than in R&S, because the people on this forum are the ones whose ideas I'd be most interested in hearing, as these people are the ones IMO who have embraced and explored their spirituality without having to categorize it and impose limitations upon it based upon religion. Also, I feel that here in horoscopes people asking these sorts of questions are going to be met with a much less biased and judgemental, but more accepting response.
With a few exceptions from R&S, who I believe to have open minds regarding this (Hi (((better person than god)))!!!).
Hi Eliza, Considering how a lot of us here feel about Astrology, I think most of us would agree that it is miscategorized in YA. It is definitely not just entertainment for us. Actually, maybe they should leave Horoscopes (for novices) where it is, and create a new category for Astrology (for advanced students) to be included in the R&S section.
You are right that people get mobbed in R&S. I went there a while back and posted a few answers. The responses that I received did not make me happy at all, and I resolved to not go there again. However, I have made a few exceptions to that rule when contacts pull me over there.
Anyway, to answer directly your question, I don't know if people are beginning to move to our section to discuss "Spirituality," but if they aren't, they should, as we Astrologers are very nice, fun-loving, open-minded people who enjoy discussing various spiritual viewpoints.
Horoscope is more to something like reading for fun. I rather if Horoscopes were changed into Astrology and to be fitted into Society & Culture.
There IS a link between Religion and Astrology.
But don't forget Astrology questions are also posted in Myth and Folklore.
People aren't sure where to post. Sometimes, an odd question in a section gives more accurate answers. :D
And the reason why Horoscopes are under Entertainment is because.... Flip the papers and you can always see the Horoscopes section under Entertainment. Hehehe. XD
And religion condemns Horoscope readings so badly like as if they are always right. >.>
That's the trouble all people want Safe No threats no worries, the whole world is coming to an nasty end, your governments are killing you as well as foreigners, all politicians Lie and if that's not bad enough people now accept this as normal we have become that depraved, that Lies are the norm, Conspiracies are Normal, our own supposed keepers are blowing our own buildings up killing us and blaming Innocent people, and it isn't even about oil.
You read you horoscopes along with the rest of the sheeple.
I'm not sure I agree with the "friendlier and safer" thing...I just had to defend myself against a Chainling attack, so I'm not feeling the warm fuzzy vibes exactly.
It's strange to me that so many "skeptics" and such attack with such vigor, but offer no real source or data for their view point...not very "scientific" , really.
But I digress.
I should hope that all would feel comfortable to discuss they're metaphysical interests here, but I feel that eventually the rabid rude will find their way to the safe haven, in search of fresh blood to abuse..
But I'm a bit of a pessimist.
**Umm...C-man, perhaps you should practice what you preach..your "skeptic's newletter" is not adequate "proof"....it's meerly another viewpoint.**
**It's fine to state your opinion, Mr. C. It's a whole other thing to try to beat it into people. If one "chooses" to "ignore" your logic, it is one's right to do so, and not your place to attempt to convert. If you are insulted perhaps your "answer" was patronizing and rude (not "cold"), or perhaps so arrogant that it offended. If this hurts your feelings, you can modify your wording or report it. "
