Arod Haters: What say you about this latest news?

Apparently, Canseco's star witness "Max" is saying that Arod never took steroids. Is Canseco going to get sued?

Craigerswuz...That's all you got? He ruined the integrity of the game, because he took the best deal available??? And you don't have to agree with me to get best answer.

Tom L: Canseco called "Max" his "ace in the hole". He said, "Arod has to shut up and take it, because I got Max, and he doesn't want anyone to know who Max really is..." LOL...

Booty Queen: Again, people making assumptions without any proof. And why should Arod even acknowledge Canseco or his "allegations"? to help him sell his book? Give me a break.

2008-04-19T11:54:48Z

And just for the record, I haven't given anyone a thumbs down, I have no idea who does this stuff...

Craigers...now you're blaming Arod for what other guys are doing?! Come on, dude! And if I had Arod's talent, and I knew I could hold out for more money, yeah, you bet, I would have seriously considered it...

The sad thing about steroids is that any time a player's name is mentioned with that term, he is automatically presumed to be guilty. Canseco just happened to witness or help other players take steroids when he was playing, so he was able to name players in his book. Unfortunately, he seems to have been right about those players, and now that he named A-Rod as POSSIBLY taking steroids, all the A-Rod and Yankee haters are having a great time.

I don't believe A-Rod has taken steroids. He was rushed to the majors in '94 and '95, but since he became a full-time player in 1996, he has been great. He was already a big guy when he got to the big leagues, already over 200 pounds and his appearance has not changed drastically, as Bonds' did.

The original writer who was going to help Canseco quit on the book, saying he didn't believe that Canseco had the goods on A-Rod. I think Canseco hates A-Rod so much that he will do anything to bury him, and the A-Rod haters are eating it up. Just look at some of these ridiculous answers, like "A-Rod has enough money to buy people", or "A-Rod has ruined the integrity of the game by signing his big contract by earning more money than the Florida Marlins". Some people will go to any length to bash A-Rod.

I would sue Canseco to shut him up once and for all.

And BTW, the Florida Marlins are a JOKE. They get more revenue sharing and luxury tax money than any team. They could afford to pay their star players more money and sign free agents. Instead, their owner, Jeffrey Loria, chooses to line his pockets with the tens of millions he gets from teams (mostly the Yankees), instead of putting it into his team.

Black and Orange--I appreciate your opinion, but your argument is flawed. A-Rod was hardly a "stick figure" when he came to the majors. He may have been 185 when he was drafted, but he was already a strapping guy when he got to the big leagues. Has he gained weight? Sure he has, but then again, he was 20 when he became a full-time player, he was still growing naturally. Not many of us are the same weight in our 30s that we were when we are 20. A-Rod has probably gained 20 pounds since he arrived in MLB, but players who arrive very young are not fully matured. Look at early pictures of Aaron, Mantle and Mays. Aaron and Mays really were stick figures, and Mantle was not as big as he would be. People, not just baseball players, add weight as they physically mature. Your Bonds argument isn't accurate. Bonds was in his late 20s when he left Pittsburgh, he should have been fully mature physically, yet somehow, he no longer resembles the person he was. A-Rod's production has been steady for 12 years as a full-time player, yet at age 37, Bonds bested his previous career high in homers by TWENTY-SEVEN, and attained slugging percentages not seen since Babe Ruth--when Bonds was in his late 30s. Your comparison is off base.

Also, Derek Jeter and A-Rod are both about 6'3". Jeter has always played at 195, yet A-Rod has always been much bigger than Jeter, even back in 1998. The two have been compared since 1996, but one thing that has always set them apart has been A-Rod's superior size. You do realize that the weights listed for athletes aren't always up to date, don't you?

I'm not a Yankee fan but I never thought A-Rod was using steroids.

Quite frankly, I don't believe a word that Jose Canseco says or writes. I read his book because I wanted to see what he had to say and it just reinforced my opinion that he's a bitter liar. The best I can come up with is that he's jealous that A-Rod is a better player clean than he (Canseco) ever was on steroids.

A-Rod is a guy with tons of talent who's hard work has paid off. In an article I read, a Yankee player (I can't remember who!) said that coming into the Yankees, the thing that surprised him the most was how hard A-Rod worked...how he came to practices early, worked on his hitting, etc.

Edit: Oh, and I wouldn't blame A-Rod at all for suing Canseco. Canseco deserves to be more than just sued!

This is mostly in response to what Jeffrey S wrote about the comparison between Bonds and Arod and their physical changes.

In 1995, Bonds weighed 185, so did Arod. In 1998 Bonds weighed 185 and Arod weighed 190. Fast forward to 2001 and Bonds weighs 228 and Arod is 225. They pretty much grew at the same rate [the only difference being their ages, of course].
This is what kills me about the allegations of Bonds taking steroids, but Arod is "definetely clean, because he didnt blow up like Bonds". Arod came into the league as a stick figure and filled out his frame over the course of 3 seasons [while Bonds gained his weight in 2 seasons].
I dont think that Arod took PED's, but if valid proof shows that he did, then I wouldnt be surprised being that his physical growth is in line with Bonds.

AROD does not take steroids. if u believe canseco u are an idiot. I play baseball i know who takes it or not. if u know anything about steroids then u should know who takes it. i knew bonds was takin it in 2000. if u remember his elbow shattered because he had to much muscle in to little time. the tendons could not take it. david ortiz was probably takin it before the start of this season. he stoped and so has his performance. manny on the other hand has never taken it becuase u can just tell. this guy has not changed much since his high shcool days. but my biggest problem is that if u are caught takin steroids u should be suspended for 2 years. 2nd time is lifetime. and please stop readin or listenin to Canseco. he is the main reason baseball has such a big steroid problem.

I dont think anyone Other than Yankee Haters thought he used Steroids anyways. I mean, Theres never been ANY link to him Using other than him being associated with Canseco, and that turns out to be more about Arod Tappin Mrs.Canseco's A*s, than anything involving HGH or steroids. I dont Like the guy, but ive never thought he ever used drugs to increase his ability. My brothers are all 6'4-6'5, and 230+ Pounds each, all built like Arod and all Played Football and baseball and none Used anything to get that size.. There are people who are just BIG, Ortiz , Adam Dunn, Travis Hafner, and Ryan Howard are others like that... Just REALLY big.

What does Arod taking that 200+ mill contract have to do with him being a PHD User? I mean, Ild like to see sumone stick 220odd million dollars in anyones face and see them say no thanx... I know it's never happened because the Planet hasnt exploded from the Utter Stupidity of the act.
