can anyone tell me if this is a military pin or badge of some kind?
I own a large piece of land and I found this in my back yard while digging.

To clarify, That is a braided rope, I think and an arrow going through it. I found it pretty deep in the ground about 5 and a half feet. It has a clasp on the backand it's pretty dull and tarnished but it is brass. That is as clean as I could get it.

James L, I was thinking the same thing. I have a lot of open land here so there's no telling what else is back there.

It looks like a brooch of some kind. It appears to be a laurel wreath crossed by an arrow, so I can see why you would get a feeling that was military in origin. I really can't say for sure what it is. If it is a piece of a military uniform, it would probably be a unit insignia. But it might just be a piece of jewelry. I couldn't find any sources to verify it. Try a civil war historian. 5 1/2 ft? thats about grave depth. You keep digging there, you just might find the owner. According to my Dad, the arrow is a scout insignia. I still have no way of knowing for certain what your pin is. But it is another detail to add.
I seen many awards since I'm a ROTC award officer at my school. I never seen something like that before. But the closet that award can be is a pin of a neck piece. Could be the army.
