He voted against the Bush tax cuts initially, and has disagreed about the handling of the Iraq War by the Bush Admin. from the beginning, etc....

John McCain is no conservative. Look at his Senate voting record as well as the bills he's sponsored/co-sponsored. He's a neo-con liberal.

Mccain has a VERY conservative voting record. voting against tax cuts in a time of war is a CONSERVATIVE position. Conservatives are supposed to be fiscally responsible,,,, part of that would be dont wage a war on borrowed money

Being Republican has nothing to do with agreeing with a certain party's choices. It has to do with how you prefer the country to be run, such as Federal or State government being more powerful. So... I don't understand the question.

He was correct when he criticized the handling of the war, and he supported the surge which has been somewhat successful.
