Was Hank Williams a poet and why do all my poems sound like his songs?

Question

Where is the meaning at the end of your life
you been through the pain the pleasure and sorrow
The last stab in the heart was done with a knife
The only hope left is the hope of tomorrow
 
I saw it all coming I knew all the signs
chose to ignore them kept pulling the plow
people have said its a sign of the times
Where that led me is where I am now
 
If I could go back and know what I know now
It would turn out different and that Im certain
Id be standing on stage taking my bow
my life wouldnt look like the final curtain
 
So if you can hear me be careful to chose
your wife with wisdom and care
By learning lifes lessons you dont have to lose.
and you wont being wearing my haunted stare

i know you are hurting will... do me a favor would ya? you already know i love your poetry... but what i would like you to do.. not for me ..but YOURSELF is write something that is uplifting..something you will look at and smile as you walk by it... you deserve to be happy... don't let this be the " final curtain" will, you have alot yet to be happy about, just stop and think.    

BTW.. i like a little Hank too!!

Well Billy, most c&w  songs are tales of woe!! You know the poor me and who's fault was it anyway. Fortunately, we can't live our lives by a song. Many try and become so wrapped up in the lyrics they actually believe that's a song about their lives!! You could contrive some comparison from the song to your situation, the the reality is , it's just a song!!!! Onward and upward Billy Boy. Look how many women came along after EVE!!

I would call him the hillbilly Shakespeare. although not a true poet, his songs do tend to tell a story with such conviction, that i would see where you're coming from....

Hank Williams was no poet in my opinion. It may be that you are just inspired by his lyrics or the message of his music.
