Why do you choose to answer certain questions? Why would you not answer a certain question?

depends on what kind of mood I'm in, I mostly just come here to have fun and be silly....I'm almost always in p&s, but I am very in tune with what's going on in the world(and not the media's artificial world they try and brainwash people with)......so I 'm feeling your vibe. If I don't answer, I'll uasually give a thumbs up.

Foremost, I choose questions that I believe are sincere and the poster actually wants or needs some serious advice. I will also choose question if I believe the topic is generally misunderstood and I feel compelled to educate. I will not answer questions that are too vague or so specific that they will likely to yield the wrong answer. Occasionally, the question, in the realm of my expertise, has already been answered accurately and there is nothing material to add. I also will not take the bait of inflammatory questions, UNLESS the answer has a direct nexus to the law. I rarely give my personal opinion because I am not convinced personal opinions are of much value in regards to the law. It is very controversial, whether a licensed attorney should answer questions on this site. Some would see partcipation as "practicing law"; I choose to view it as education. For too long, lawyers have veiled legal information from the public, of course in order to preserve our livelihood. However, especially in the Midwest, the average person does not have access to relatively simple legal questions without cost. many lawyers seem to think that "community service" means charity golf tournaments (which it can be , of course) but the problems people face are not on the golf course, but in public forums (where the people are). Which is why I choose to participate at all!

I answer questions when I have what I think is a good answer or the right answer, especially if no one else has gave the right answer. Sometimes, if the asker is really just making a statement disguised as a question I'll answer, especially if I have a different opinion. I also answer sometimes when I wouldn't have answered before, to make a comment (yeah, I know) to a person that's already answered. I don't answer a question if I don't have the answer or if I have no idea what the person is talking about. Or, if it is a really stupid question but sometimes I answer those too.

I choose questions that interest me, and have some bearings on my experience. Some questions on here are just stupid. For example:

What would you do with 20 years of saved toenail clippings?
What do you think of when you hear, "Five Dollar, Foot Long"?

These are from yesterday. People are very strange at times.

Some questions I can answer; some I can't. People deserve the right answer. I don't pull answers out of my behind hole and post 'em, though the same can't be said for a lot of folks who use this forum.
