dimension question (geometry)?

i have a triangle that measures 10 feet long across the base, and 5 feet high. because the sides are angled, they will effectively take away length the higher you go up them. what is the length at 27" inches high?

draw the diagram as i m explaining below..
so, the given triangle is ABC. where BC=10ft and perpendicular from A to BC is AD=5ft
now, draw PQ parallel to BC at height 2.25ft from BC.
drop perpendicular from A to intersect PQ at M and BC at N.

v see that triangles ABC and APQ are similar by AA.
so, PQ/BC=AM/AN
ie,PQ/10=(5-2.25)/5 (as 27 inches=2.25ft)
ie, PQ=5.5ft

Base1/Base2 = height1/height2
10/Base2 = 5/27
Base2 = 27×10/5 = 54 feet
