When the ratio is high, essential macromolecules and nutrients can dissolve into the cells easier.
Also, the diffusion of waste substances such as carbon dioxide can diffuse out of the cells easier.
Higher TSA/V ratio also means higher rate of metabolism and cellular functions to be at the optimum efficiency.
