u can get a cheap well kept mazda miata for under $5000. 90-97 all pretty much the same, though 94+ is a tad safer. they got great reliable engine, made in japan, extremely fun, and when she gets tired u can always keep it or sell it, they tend to stay at the same price and will only go up.

Any foreign compact such as the Honda Toyota Corrola, Saturn Sl1, Etc. They get good city gas milage and run forever.
