Sciatic Nerve pain?

I am going on 17 weeks preg and this weekend I am getting sharp pains through my left butt-cheek down into my tail bone and it hurts and makes me hunch over.
I have been told it's my sciatic nerve getting pinched.

Does anyone know anything to help with this?

My cousin specializes and does prenatal massages. Will that help?

thanks!

Yes, if your cousin knows how to do the prenatal massages then you should go for it. My last one sat on my sciatic nerve. It was horrible, I would be holding my butt everywhere I went. It went away after she was born...the pain, not my butt I'm afraid.

It sounds like the sciatic nerve. I've had problems with that, but also with my tailbone being out of place, pinching the nerves. I saw a chiropractor for that, and it eventually did get better. A prenatal massage may also help, but I haven't tried that. Your best bet would be to ask your cousin specifically about it. Also, if your baby won't get off of the nerve, I have heard of putting something cold there to get baby to readjust. Try a bag of frozen vegetables or a can of pop. I hope that helps!

I have experienced several severe bouts of pinched sciatica: One instance, as luck....I should say unluck, I was forced to ride my bike 1 1/2 miles to work cuz my car broke down. I did that for a week and my back pain subsided. Another time, I went to a physical therapist and did some stretching exercises. I would lay on my back, bend leg, and pull the other knee toward my chest. Switch. Each time I visited I was able to pull the legs closer to the chest and the pain went away. **I think some Pilates exercises might help** I've tried muscle relaxers but they just made me 'high' and unable to work. I do take Ibus though if I'm in discomfort and that works. I also put the heating pad on my lower back for 20 minutes at a time over 2 hours, as needed. I haven't had severe pain in about a year. That was due to mopping at my job when I hadn't been conditioned for it. I was hurting the next day. I saw the therapist due to a work related injury. Hope my info helped and wasn't something you already knew.
